Aloha!
The PudgandPlum blog is about teaching kids to have a financially sound future. It is my belief that teaching children about money early is as important as teaching them to put food into their mouth. As a financial concepts educator, I’ve heard time and time again from clients that they need their children to learn how to handle and respect money. I’ve worked with children for many years, and much of my early college education was geared toward obtaining a degree to become an Elementary School teacher. Combining my two biggest passions, 1-Finance and 2-Changing the lives of children, I was “enlightened” with and idea where I could effectively do both.
I think of money as nothing more than a powerful tool. Think of money like you would a knife. Learn to use it right, and it can help its user do incredible things (ask any chef). Give this tool to someone who does not know how to handle it, and it the results can be devastating (ask any parent who has ever had their child cut by a knife).
In 2006, I had a dream. I dreamt I was in front of thousands of kids doing a interactive children’s show (think Barney or Wiggles) that was captivating children while they learned about how to save, invest, and handle money. In this dream, the kids in the audience were singing songs, cheering on the Heroes (Pudg and Plum), laughing with their parents, dancing and clapping, and learning money concepts that would change their futures forever. This dream has had an amazing effect on me and has consumed me for the last few years. What you are witnessing with the building of this blog and the pudgandplum.com website will be history in the making. I expect an amazing ride is about to take place, and I am inviting you to join me as this adventure progresses.
For wealth to be obtained and maintained, 2 rules must ALWAYS be practiced.
RULE #1: Prosperity is ALWAYS gained through delaying your need for instant gratification.
RULE #2: Being prepared for the unexpected events that life will throw at you.
